Basement Sate London Cocktail Bar Review

Firstly, we’ll clear up that name for you:

Sate:

Satisfy (a desire or an appetite) to the full.”sate your appetite”
Supply (someone) with as much as or more of something than is desired or can be managed. “She was sated with cocktails”

Great, now we’re all on the same page with why it’s called Basement Sate, we can crack on with the review.

Initial thoughts are that It’s certainly a satisfactory basement….?The decor is like a rich granddads study with beautiful dark olive green leather seats and stools. You would expect a powerful smell of a certain type of wood. It’s dark and each low golden table has a candle on it, giving it a feel of cosines and privacy -?A perfect atmosphere for a first date.

The premise behind Basement Sate is purely cocktails and desserts. You might think that a cocktail and a dessert sounds like a weird idea because to be honest drink and dessert (apart from dessert wine of course) go together like taking your nan to a rave, however the key is to choose a cocktail first and then ask the waiter which dessert goes with it, they’ll kindly point you in the right direction…and, somehow it works out. You’re looking at £10-£12 per cocktail and £10 for a dessert. It’s pricey, but worth it!

It’s definitely a perfect venue that will impress for a first date, or drinks with friends.
