Struggling to know where to go on a first date in London?
Or perhaps you have a day off work with your girlfriend, and you’re not sure where to take her?
Let us pre-empt exactly how this will be go…
…you’ll spend your whole lunch hour searching for date ideas, get lost in the internet black hole of doom, and end up with 2 for 1 London Dungeon tickets…
HELL NO - that’s a shit date idea
and you know it! Now, we all love the story of Sweeney Todd and blah blah blah but girls, that aint gunna cut it in this one swipe ‘sayonara sweetheart’ world.
So that’s where we come in (thank us later, cheques are fine) with our stress-free, date inspiration
articles which will make you look like a cultured hipster goddess, that every woman, man and dog wants to date…(bit weird but go with it). And to start off with we’re easing you in with Greenwich; A general crowd-pleaser.
We advise that you get the DLR to Greenwich or Cutty Sark (from Bank). There are of course other ways to get there but if you go to North Greenwich Station you’ll then have to be a bus wanker in order to get to Greenwich Station…sooo, your choice.
- Greenwich Park
Greenwich Park is a gorgeous place to start your date. Take a stroll, coffee in one hand, towards to the Royal Observatory. The park is particularly romantic in the Autumn.
2. Royal Observatory
To get there you will have to trek up a small hill in Greenwich Park, but you’ll be rewarded at the top with stunning views of the London skyline including the Shard, the Gurkin, Canary Wharf, and The Emirates Air Line over the thames. Again, pretty romantic.
The Royal Observatory usually runs free exhibitions including the Astronomy Photography of the Year Exhibition which is pretty dreamy for a date.
3. Greenwich Market
Once you’ve had a look around the Royal Observatory head towards Greenwich Market. Here you’ll be able to wind through the busy stoles which sell everything from professional street photography to records. You’ll also find pretty good street food here if you fancied a bite on the go (perhaps not the easiest thing to style out on a first date mind). Whilst in the Market area be sure to check out the Ben Oakley Gallery
4. Ben Oakly Gallery
If you’re in to contemporary art then you’ll love this little gem of a gallery. Within the Market you’ll find the Ben Oakley Gallery
hidden down the side street adjacent to the old school sweet store.
5. Cutty Sark
Basically, if you’re in Greenwich you WILL see the Cutty Sark… it’s just right there okay. And a great place to view such an incred ship from is the Gypsy Moth Pub – three words we associate with this pub: Epic. Beer. Garden! The Gypsy Moth allows you to sit, sip beer, and stair at a very old ship all at the same time – what a pub.
6. San Miguel Tapas Bar
If you fancy something different for lunch then check out the San Miguel Tapas Bar which is not far from the Cutty Sark. They offer an extensive cocktail menu and over 50 tapas options. But if you’re not up for a full on meal and cocktails you can always check out the Plumtree Café…
7. Plumtree Café
In a nutshell. COFFEE. CAKES. What more do you want? Not any old coffee and cakes but home-baked cakes and pastries and artisan coffee.
Be sure to let us know how your day out in Greenwich goes and if you’ve done Greenwich one too many times then check out our date inspiration articles for more ideas.
Have we missed something epic about Greenwich? Let us know and we’ll add it in this article.
