As you enter the dark cove of delight, you see that it has kept some of the original floor and wall†tiles (pretty sure they scrubbed them up pretty good though…) The doors of the old toilets have been redesigned and made into tables, nothing going to waste there. The booths are intimate if there’s a group of you, if there’s just two it is atmospheric and cosy, nothing gets†the heart race going more than a good wine and a board of smelly cheese and/or meats…or is that the resting heart rate†of someone who is about to die from too much cheese and wine consumption? We will leave it up to you to find out. The wine is worth it and the prices aren’t too extortionate.

It is truly delicious (we have tried to work our way through). There’s an evening menu, weekend menu and a weekday menu, so why not take her there for a drink on Tuesday, for the weekday meal on Wednesday, then Thursday, Friday, Saturday and chill on Sunday. Check out the Pepper Tree, casual Thai dining with some fucking amazing food. It’s also pretty reasonably priced with mains priced around £8-10. With prices like that you’ll be able to treat her to a ginger martini, a combination of ginger (surprisingly) vodka, syrup and lime juice. Unless she doesn’t like ginger, perhaps go for another one. They have a brunch, evening and Sunday menu. Lovely, classic pub grub!

Venn Street Market Venn Street, Clapham Common, SW |†Saturday 10am-4pm Step foot outside the Clapham Common tube station and wind your way through the†pedestrianised Venn Street Market. Treat yourself to some fresh, local produce, sourced from nearby farms, packed full of flavour. Cheeses, pate, brownies, vegetarian quiches, pies, fruit juice…. you get it. The market is only open Saturdays, between 10 and 4, so don’t turn up on a Sunday expecting an array of independent stalls, they won’t be there.
