Winterville has upped sticks and bid a fond farewell to it’s humble beginnings at Victoria and set up shop upon the grassy green’s of Clapham Common, bought to you by the founding father’s of Street Feast and Field Day, Winterville is open for business until January 1st 2018. Fuck, 2018?
Get in fo’ free on week nights or tap in for just £3 on Friday and Saturday evenings after 6pm, less than a glass of mulled wine. †Talking of mulled wine, there’s a variety of hot alcoholic drank’s to be had, with vendors selling warm wines and hot ciders and chocolates… or try a shot of frozen vodka. If the week’s just been too much to take and you just want pure beer, do not fear; there are around 15 bars to choose from.
Fancy something alternative? Head over to the†Spiegeltent where there is a whole host of Christmas goodness in the form of club nights, live music, cabaret, bingo (surprisingly thrilling) as well as Mexican wrestling. Who needs Father Christmas when you’ve got Mexican Wrestling?
Looking for something to eat? Be prepared for many rounds of rock, paper, scissors because with over 15 food traders to choose from it may be tough to decide. Street Feast brings some of London’s best traders including; Babek Brothers, Le Bao, Up In My Grill, Mother Clucker and Pop Dogs. Plus a shit load more.
Winterville has several fairground rides, including those which are stomach churning, belly dropping, (best eat before hand) as well as the more sedentry rides with views across London from the Big Wheel. In addition there’s an ice rink, plonk golf, roller disco, backyard cinema and an all important giant Christmas tree. Attractions
If you want to book in advance some of the attractions, you can do so here†before you arrive. Prices vary depending on activity but are roughly between £4 and £22. Ish.
You can just rock up and pay for any attraction that takes your fancy on the day, all apart from the Backyard Cinema. The Backyward Cinema Winter Night Garden offers an alternative cinematic experience, cosy up in a bean bag sofa and eat, drink and feast your eyes upon the big screen. The cinema is set amongst a forest which Winterville refer to as ‘enchanted’, sounds mystical. There is an indoor, fully heated alternative which is fully heated and with bar- did we say fully heated? The cinema’s are screening Christmas classics such as Elf, The Snowman and The Snowdog, The Holiday, Muppets Christmas Carol and the ultimate festive film… Coolrunnings?
