The Bisexual is a channel 4 queer comedy-drama that arrived to our screens on 10th Oct 2018 taking a look at the ups and downs of being a bisexual woman in her thirties in London (hmmm sounds familiar).
Created by and Starring Desiree Akhavan and Rowan Riley, it stars Maxine Peake, Brian Gleeson, and Michelle Guillot. This hilarious comedy takes a very different approach to your usual queer drama and is about a gay woman who finds out she’s bisexual … we know, imagine! New Yorker Leila finds herself feeling a little out of place in London. Fresh out of a break up (in which she felt very much part of the power couple phenomenon) she’s trying to adjust to her new life and new discoveries about herself.
It’s a much-welcomed (ad needed) drama for the bisexual and lesbian community and we can only thank Desiree Akhavan and Rowan Riley for adding to the very limited queer tv series out there. Tt’s funny, dirty, sad, uncomfortable, truthful and relatable. Not to mention it’s shot in London and one of our very own lesbian event nights Aphrodyki features in it.
