Though there aren’t any specific Christmas LGBT cards, Scribbler’s LGBT offering is seriously strong. Taking inspiration from Lady Gaga with the slogan ‘don’t be a drag just be a queen, baby you were born this way!’ The range includes everything from anniversaries, engagements and weddings, to exams and graduations. There’s a lot of colour, and a lot of fun, as you can see in our top selection:
Paperchase If you prefer the more traditional, cute cards, then Paperchase has some really nice options. We particularly like the Christmas jumper one!
Paperchase also has a super strong LGBT offering, with a range of great Mrs & Mrs cards.
We spoke to Hazel Walker, Senior Buyer for Cards & Wrap at Paperchase, about the store’s LGBT range: Why is it important for you as a company to have an LGBT line? Paperchase is a very inclusive brand and for that reason, it is important that our card offer reflects this by including cards for everyone. What makes a good, marketable LGBT card? We don’t like to put a label on anything and would say that the vast majority of our cards are aimed at all ages, races, genders, and sexualities. However, we do appreciate the need for more specific LGBT captions particularly for same-sex marriage & same-sex parenthood which we try to cover within our occasions, relations and seasonal offers. What feedback have you received about your line of LGBT cards? We often receive positive feedback on our wedding offer within this we have many non-gender specific designs as well as designs for same-sex couples which we carry in all our stores. What plans do you have for the line in the future? We’re continually looking for ways to be more inclusive and have planned more same-sex options within Valentine’s, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day for 2019 than in previous years. We also have a new everyday range inspired by the LGBT community and culture but do think this will have a wider appeal than just our LGBT customers. ————————————————————————————————————————————————————— Of course, there is a wide range of online retailers and independent stores that do great LGBT cards, we’d recommend checking out Etsy and Not On The High Street for those, but it’s great to see high street stores representing. Shout out to Scribbler and Paperchase and here’s to a few years time when we’ll hopefully walking into a shop and seeing a range of cards just for us will be the norm! Team NL x
