Killin’ It on Insta: Abby Robson

For this instalment of Killin’ It on Insta we had a chat with Abby Robson otherwise known as @_abbyrobson.

Back story?

Hey! I’m Abby, I’m a 23-year-old queer content creator living in London, I love creating videos, social media content and writing, my content mainly centres around my experiences as a queer woman.

I write for the LGBTQ+ blog Unite UK, I love looking at the representations of LGBTQ+ people in the media, so I’m very lucky to have a platform where I can write about it and get involved in some important conversations.

Are you dating anyone / looking for love?

I’ve been with my girlfriend (Imogen / @Foxgluvv) for almost 7 years! We’ve actually known each other since we were in primary school, but she was in the year above me so we didn’t really know each other until we were older.

We got together after meeting properly through mutual friends, our first date was actually a Tegan and Sara gig, (how cliche of us).

How long have you featured on Instagram and why?

I’ve had Instagram since I was like 15 I think, so 8 years… wow I feel old.

I’ve archived a lot of my old posts though to save the embarrassment hahah.

I love Instagram because it’s such a great way to explore your creativity & style, share information about what’s important to you and meet new people who have similar interests.

As I work in social media, I think I have a different way of looking at in than a lot of people. I see it as a great place for creatives and businesses more than it should be overly personal.

Although, I do think it’s important to be authentic, and not to mislead people into aspiring to something unrealistically polished, but I think it’s natural that most people will only show the best moments of their lives.

I think it’s important to have discussions about social media and the way we all navigate it, the more we lean away from being so pressurised by it the better. It should be a fun & creative platform!

How many followers do you have at present?
