Nonchalant ~ Your Lockdown Cocktail Menu With A Twist

Your Lockdown Cocktail Menu With A Twist

liquor pouring on clear shot glass

What’s the one thing uniting us all during lockdown? The palpable yearning to regain your familiar social rituals. If that includes meeting your friends in your favourite nightspots, queuing at a bar and handing over your hard earned cash for a beautifully crafted cocktail, then read on.

The Nonchalant team are right there with you, and to help combat those cravings, we’ve spent some time curating a cocktail list that you can enjoy from home. Gather your crew for a BBQ (finally!), park cocktails or virtually, then raid the liquor cabinets and spend the evening emulating the mind and soul of a master mixologist from the comfort of your kitchen. Not forgetting there’s lots of opportunity to celebrate as it’s Pride Month!

Start Right

Level-up your home bar game with some of this essential kit:

How about going the extra mile now that non-essential shops are open and treating yourself to some grown-up glassware to match your favourite tipple? Whether that’s a G&T from a beautiful ballon glass, the perfect tumbler for your Old Fashioned or a classic and elegant martini glass. Disclaimer: ZERO judgement if you want to drink your delectable creations from your favourite coffee mug. You do you, babe. After all, this is your bar. Your rules. Just don’t forget the ice.

To encourage you to get a bit experimental, we’ve grouped our drinks menu by style with personas to boot, so find your vibe and get mixing. We assure you that whatever your type, unlike online dating, none of these ladies will disappoint.

Cocktails with Corinne

Like drinks with a bit of bite? Welcome to the dark side. We see you there – dark nails, rouge lipstick, tattoos and a sultry attitude to match (Swoon).

If you are usually found in the shadows of a bar yet somehow still catching everyone’s attention, whilst nursing a Negroni then these drinks are most definitely for you.

The Ivy Noir

We know you shouldn’t fuck with a classic, so this cocktail is merely inspired by the Old Fashioned institution. Deep, layered with flavour that packs a punch, with heat from the cinnamon Jagermeister that perfectly compliments the apple sweetness. Simply fill a tumbler with ice, splash over the bitters, add the booze and stir gently. Serve with a slice or twist of orange.

Goldie De Milo

A drink sure to lead you astray in all the right ways, so be prepared. You MUST serve as cold as possible. Vodka should be kept in the freezer (always) as a general rule anyway. Combine the spirits in a shaker or glass. Shaken or stirred. Pour over ice and finish with a pair of Maraschino cherries. Warning: It may leave you tongue-tied and wanting more…as all great drinks (and women) should. Easy pouring, slow sipping. Switch out the vodka for whisky if you prefer a darker spirit.

Dame Ruby

Beautifully alluring, cool with a slight fizz, one taste and we guarantee you’ll be hooked. Layer the spirits over ice, stir and top with Prosecco for a fizzy and refreshing flavour, garnishing with a slither of orange and enjoy sipping the fresh fruity flavour amongst the subtle bitter notes.

Cocktails with Cherry Rose

Oh hey there sweet tooth. Sucker for a smile? Love to wile away hours seductively licking your creamy cocktail from your lips?

If you’re the type of person that scans the dessert menu before the mains you will love these luxurious, sweet, dreamy cocktails.

Do you often find your date somewhat mesmerized but you have no idea why or what you did to stir her up into a frenzy? Like these drinks, cherry types are smoking hot, sweet, engaging and the best thing about them is they have no idea.

The Scarlet Russian

Smooth, velvety and warming. Fill your glasses with ice – the larger the cubes, the better. Add all your ingredients to a shaker, shake and pour then add a flourish of orange. Serve immediately.

Ms Pinky Blaze

Oh so drinkable with a great balance of sweet and sour. Add all ingredients to your shaker and shake it (a bit faster and firmer than a polaroid picture…) for at least 20 seconds. Add ice and shake again until chilled. Strain and serve with a sprinkle of nutmeg. Looks smoking in a martini glass. Cheeky bartender tip… double strain through a mesh sieve to double down on the smooth texture.

Duchess Dee-Dee Demure

This naughty little number might slip down a little too easy, it makes an excellent night cap as it is sweet, dreamy and boozy. Add the ingredients into a shaker filled with ice. Shake and strain into an ice-filled glass. Garnish with a maraschino cherry.

Cocktails with Miss Ginger Rogers

For those girls looking for something exotic, topped off with oodles of charisma and a cheeky swagger.

If to travel is to live then these drinks and flavours will transport you back to fond memories of obscure markets in Myanmar or Mexico. Time to re-awaken your senses with a tipple from Ginger’s fruity and delicious list.

Venus Wilde

If you like a fruity and sweet cocktail but are sick of Cosmos this will work wonders. Tip all ingredients into a shaker over ice and yep… shake until chilled. Strain and serve. Works wonders in a martini glass. Garnish with a spring or mint or a slice of lime. Packed with colour, flavour, passion and juice.

Trixie Peaches

We love this minty/fruity fresh combo, great if you struggle with overly sweet drinks but want something summery, as the liquor provides both sweetness and depth. Place the mint, fruit and peach liqueur in the bottom of your shaker. Muddle to release the juices and the oil from the mint. Add the whisky and a little ice and shake until chilled. Strain and pour over ice, garnish mint sprigs and another slice of fruit. Enjoy long or short. Top with soda and stir for a longer drink.

  • 50ml Bourbon Whisky
  • 50ml Peach Liquor or Schnapps
  • 2 stems of mint
  • 3 wedges of fresh peach or nectarine
  • Soda water (optional)

Cocktails with Lola

Viva la vino? Zesty, with a sharp wit? It’s not just the quick, clever jokes (although they are kinda charming). We bet you never demand attention but you attract it where ever you go, with a mind and strut that is both refreshing and compelling, then these drinks will suit you down to the ground. Refreshing, stylish, light and understated in their brilliance.

Foxy Delight

This is an excellent drink to chill in the garden whilst the long summer days turn into balmy nights. Planning a session? Then maybe top your glass up with soda. Easy to prep, this will happily sit in the fridge for hours, even a couple days but is best to drink fresh. Cut and slice the fruit and add to a jug. Pour in the brandy and schnapps over the fruit & stir. Add the wine just before serving. Pour into glasses over ice garnish with mint and a couple of spoons of fruit from the jug.

  • 100ml Apricot Brandy.
  • 100ml Schnapps
  • 1 bottle white wine
  • 2 oranges
  • 2 limes
  • 2 peaches/Nectarines
  • A handful of strawberries
  • A sprig of mint

Sparkle Devine

Sharp, refreshing and summery. Sold. Fill a glass with ice, add limoncello and lemon juice, stir, add a splash of soda and top up with Prosecco, serve with a twist of lemon and a sprig of rosemary.

  • 50ml Limoncello
  • 15ml lemon juice
  • Dash soda water
  • Prosecco
  • Sprig of rosemary
