So you didn’t get Glastonbury tickets. Again. But instead of crying into your pint about it, let us put you onto something else that may just be an incredible glasto alternative this year: Roskilde Festival, aka Denmark’s non-profit, culture junkie, lineup-heavy answer to the UK’s festival royalty.
What is Roskilde Festival?
Taking place Sat, 28 Jun 2025 – Sat, 5 Jul 2025, Roskilde Festival is known as the “Scandi Glastonbury”. Imagine Glasto’s music – but with less corporate cringe (meow), more Scandi vibes, and you can actually get tickets.

Held just 25 minutes outside Copenhagen, Roskilde Festival is one of Europe’s biggest, most inclusive, and most culturally rich music festivals. We’re talking:
- 130,000 festival goers
- Eight stages
- 185+ acts
- A full eight days of partying
Because instead of just a five-day blowout like Glasto, Roskilde lasts EIGHT days. And instead of £380 for the UK mudbath we love to hate and hate to love, it’s around £290ish for Roskilde Tickets. That’s almost £100 cheaper than Glasto without the ticket purchasing stress and WhatsApp group meltdowns. Plus, you can pop that hundred quid towards flights. Tickets to Roskilde are easier to get. No panic-refreshing. No booking the morning off work to secure tickets BS. No trying to coordinate a squad of seven while Becky’s on a silent retreat and Sophie’s phone is ‘on low battery’. Just you, some mates, and a straightforward checkout.
Before we dive into the lineup, we have to shine a light on the fact that this festival is wholly in aid of charity. Since 1971, it’s been bringing generations together through music, art, and community, all underpinned by a genuine drive to do good. Organised by the Roskilde Festival Charity Society and powered by 30,000 volunteers (yes, literally everyone is a volunteer), all profit made is funnelled into humanitarian, non-profit, and cultural causes, with a focus on supporting young people. So far, they’ve raised an eye-watering DKK 457 million for distribution. Oh, and they’re annoyingly good at sustainability too. So it’s safe to say that this really is a great alternative to Glasto.
