The LGBTQ+ Music Festival You’ve Been Dreaming Of.

Okay, babes, you’re going to need to brace yourself for the lowdown Nonchalant’s recently got.

Heads up: Some of our articles are sponsored and/or may contain sponsored links, meaning we get a commission if you decide to make a purchase through the links, at no cost to you. This is how we keep the Nonchalant magic alive. We only work with brands we truly love.

If you’ve been a fan of the magazine for a while now, you’ll know we adore a good jam, from Lucy Spraggan and MIRI to XANA and Hannie – we have had the opportunity to chat with many up and coming, as well as established queer artists. The LGBTQ+ community is brimming with creativity and exuberant talent, cultivated gifts that deserve celebration.

And so – I’m sure you’re hoping we’ll get to the chase – this year, from the first to the third of July, in Porto, Portugal, that’s exactly what you’ll have the opportunity to do.

Organised by The Apollon Group, the LGBT+ Music Festival’s debut is looking to be shining.

In partnership with the Portuguese Secretary of State for Tourism, the municipality of Porto, as well a vast selection of restaurants, bars, nightclubs and hotels, and brands such as MTV and Attitude Magazine, the festival will bring you 72 hours of beats to enjoy surrounded by up to 35,000 people, across four stages, all over the city of Porto.

So, spend your days raving and your nights at the many promised boat parties and themed afterparties at local clubs!

In terms of what to expect music-wise, Nonchalant’s learned that the festival will be featuring artists such as Iggy Azalea, Melanie C, Little Boots, The Illustrious Blacks, Eliza Legzdina, Gloria Groove, Sammy Jo (Scissor Sisters), Bimini Bon Boulash, Peaches, Todrick Hall, Ludmilla, Blaya, Jodie Harsh. The setlist has not yet been finalised – so don’t worry if you don’t see your fave’s name just yet!

Discussing the intentions of the festival, Community Impact Manager, Festival Spokesperson and Executive Director of Portugal’s LGBTI Commerce and Tourism Association, Diogo Vieria da Silva, has shared,

“This will be a festival that remembers the past, celebrates the present, and prepares for the future. Bringing people from all over the world together will create a truly safe space for everyone who knows and understands that music is an act of liberation. Combining inclusion with fun, the festival will help the City of Porto and local organizations to raise their support for LGBT+ people and will be the epicenter of the celebration of equality values. It will give a stage to LGBT+ artists and their allies, whilst elevating national artists to new heights.”

Personally, Team Nonchalant can’t think of a better way to spend the first few days of July, than soaking up the sun, beats, and all that locally produced port wine.

Up your alley? Tickets are available now!

(P.S. For those flying in for the festival, the official flight carrier – TAP Air Portugal – will offer a discount code for festival ticket holders – just in case we hadn’t already convinced you.)
